The first graders in Mrs. Bannister’s class have participated in a month long Valentine exchange all across the country. Teachers from across the country signed up their class up to participate in a Valentine letter exchange. Grades Pre-K to 6th could participate. Each class was to make enough Valentines for the number of schools in their group and then send a letter with the Valentine explaining our school and interesting things to do near our location or what made our area unique. The students created their Valentines, helped write the letter, and learned how to mail a letter with our United States Postal Service. The students anxiously waited for the first letter to arrive and it came from Long Island, New York! Throughout the month of February we received 20 letters from 20 different states, one even came from Canada! Each time a letter came in, students colored in the state on their map. This led to great conversations about where states are located in our country and the things to do near their area. Several of the students have created a list of places they want to visit now. We also met two of our schools on Zoom. On these calls the students had to give clues to the other school for them to guess what state we live in. Once both states were guessed the students were able to visit with each other.

Huge night for the middle school boys' basketball teams tonight! They took on Perry and came out on top with 4 wins. The wins sealed a Big 7 League Championship for the 8th grade and 2nd place for the 7th grade. Congratulations!
