State Farm Kindness Award: HMS is proud to announce the winners of the State Farm Kindness Award, sponsored by State Farm Insurance- Ryan Meininger. Nominated by middle school instructors, one student from each grade level is selected. These students have demonstrated exceptional characteristics of respect, responsibility, manners, and thoughtfulness. They are recognized for kindness both in and out of school. The first day of track practice for 7th and 8th graders is tomorrow, March 22nd immediately after school. Student athletes must have a KSHSAA physical turned into the office to participate. The coach / parent meeting will start at 5:45 tomorrow after practice in the middle school gym.

Hiawatha USD 415 Board of Education recognized HHS Booster Club for their outstanding support of Hiawatha High School Athletics. So far in the 2020-21 School year, the Booster Club has committed $25,807 toward high school athletics. Thank you Booster Club for your support!!

Congratulations to the Red Hawk Forensics Team who took 5th Saturday at the ACCHS Talking Tigers Forensics tournament! Congratulations to Ethan Pruitt and Eli Hoschouer who took 2nd place in IDA qualifying them for State Champs. They also placed 5th in duet! Jocelyn Dvorak showed she can think fast on her feet placing 2nd in Impromptu speaking qualifying her for State Champs. Well done! Congratulations to Raven Stroud who placed 6th in Prose qualifying her for state festival and placing 7th in Original Oratory. A job well done to Morgan Hurn who placed 5th in Original Oratory. Our hawks continue to soar in Program of Oral Interp (POI) with all three of our entries placing in the finals. Congratulations to Jocelyn Dvorak who placed 3rd, Ati Hoschouer who placed 4th and Morgan Hurn who placed 6th! Go Red Hawks!! We are excited to see how the team excels at Washington/Linn on Saturday! Forensics Congratulations to the Red Hawk Forensics Team who took 4th today at the Big 7 League Forensics tournament! Congratulations to Morgan Hurn new 1st place league champion in Program of Oral Interpretation (POI)! Qualifying her for state champs! Morgan also placed 3rd in Original Oratory! Congratulations to Jocelyn Dvorak new 1st place league champion in impromptu speech! Qualifying her for state champs! Jocelyn also placed 5th in Extemporaneous speech! Raven Stroud double broke, placing 4th in Impromptu Speech qualifying her for state festival and 5th place for her original oration! Well done! Congratulations to Ati Hoschouer who also double broke at league, placing 2nd today in POI qualifying her for state champs! As well as placing 3rd in Impromptu speech qualifying her for State Festival. A huge shoutout to the entire team who not only showed improvement but were flexible with technology issues!
