Tehe Allen and Mary Meyer Memorial Scholarship was set up to honor the couple and provide assistance to a graduate pursuing a career in agriculture. Allen and Mary Meyer farmed and operated a dairy for over 50 years just south of Hiawatha. Mary taught school in Hiawatha for several years. Although they never had children of their own, they were strong supporters of the youth programs through the Zion Lutheran Church and 4-H. This year’s recipient is Nathan Wright.

Jerry Gifford began the Gifford Scholarship in 2006 to encourage the average student to pursue post-secondary education. Through his years of owning and operating a tool and die business, he saw the need for his employees to receive post-secondary training to develop the math and science skills to become a quality employee. This year’s scholarships go to Zoe Fix & Emily Meisenheimer.

The Carol Nigus Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Hiawatha High School who is enrolled as a full-time college student majoring in education and having an interest in completing a Special Education Degree. Carol Nigus was a long-time special education teacher and administrator in Brown County. She was devoted to serving special needs children and adults during her entire life. Carol’s husband founded the scholarship following her death to encourage graduates to pursue a career in special education and is awarded this year to senior: CYNTHIA LAW

Hiawatha ACES Arts & Theatre Scholarships are awarded to students who are majoring in either arts or theatre including illustration, fine arts, graphic design, etc. This year's recipients are: Ethan Pruitt, Nicole Stueve, and Morgan Hurn.

Paul E. Rockey Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a senior baseball player and a senior softball player in memory of Paul E. Rockey, who graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1973. Paul was active in the Hiawatha Community as the president of the Hiawatha Sons of American Legion Squadron Post 66. In addition, he ran the Hiawatha Baseball Program, coached and managed American Legion Baseball for over 25 years, and was groundskeeper for Noble Baseball Park. He also established a local Major League Wiffleball organization. On October 6, 2018, Noble Baseball Park was renamed “Paul Rockey Field” in his honor. This year’s recipients are Gunner Smith & Callyn Pavlish.

The Ruth Dannenberg Scholarship in memory of Norman Koelliker is given to a student planning to attend Kansas State University and major in any field which is related to agriculture. Ruth E. Koelliker Dannenberg was born near Robinson, Kansas, and lived on the family farm with her parents, Charles & Edna Koelliker, and younger brother, Norman. Ruth attended Hiawatha High School and graduated as a class valedictorian in 1927. She treasured her agricultural background and owned several farms in Brown County. In an effort to encourage young graduates of Hiawatha High School to pursue degrees in agricultural-related fields, Ruth directed that a scholarship to Kansas State University be established in memory of her brother, Norman Charles Koelliker, who died in 1935. Ruth passed away on March 17, 1993, and the first scholarship was awarded in May of 1993. This year’s recipient is Mitchell Bryan.

Brown County Veteran’s Honor Guard provides scholarships to students from a family with a military service background. This year, the scholarship is being awarded to the following students: Mitchell Bryan, Morgan Howard, Cynthia Law, Emma Murphy, Makayla Pilcher, Alex Rockey, & Nicole Stueve. Robinson American Legion Post 148 scholarship recipient is Raven Stroud.
