Hiawatha High School FBLA students recently participated in a business outing to Top Golf in Kansas City.

April was Financial Literacy Month. In the JAGK classes, students worked a lot with budgeting, loans, and understanding the importance of being financially smart. Although students still struggle with the concept that they will be adults and budgeting will be necessary, they seem to be invested in learning. We appreciate all the support from Luke Moore, VP of Citizens State Bank, for taking the time to talk with students and also for spending many days helping prepare Anthony for the national competition.

Senior JAGK student Anthony Anderson, recently competed nationally in Orlando, Florida at The National Career Development Conference April 18-22nd. His teacher, Kelly Griswold accompanied him. In order to participate in the National Competition, students must first qualify. Students compete first at the local level, then regional, and must place in the top 3 at the state level to move on to nationals. The state of Kansas took 32 students to Nationals and 8 adults. We flew out of Kansas City on Tuesday and returned on Sunday. The week was short but the memories will last a
lifetime. Anthony experienced his first plane ride, Universal Studios, and
Starbucks! Although he didn't walk away with a Top 10 placement, this was
an experience that allowed him to grow in many ways. Anthony was able to
meet different students from across the United States along with his peers
from Kansas. USD 415 is so proud of Anthony & Ms. Griswold.

JAGK students recently attended the The iBuild Showcase, organized by the National Institute of Construction Excellence. This allowed students an overview of the construction industry in a single venue. Students got to participate in a variety of hands-on activities as they interact with dozens of exhibitors. The primary focus of
iBuild is to provide information about the various skilled trades. A few of the exhibitors were: Heartland Women in Trades, The Builder's Association, Foley Equipment, McCown Gordon, Milwaukee Tool, MoDot, and KDot.
