Dear Hiawatha High School Families,
USD 415 and Hiawatha High School Administration were made aware of a school safety concern. It was rumored that a student had made a threat of violence toward the school. HHS administration with the help of law enforcement thoroughly investigated the matter and determined that no threat was made.
Administrators, as well as our school resource officer, will continue to monitor the situation

Friday, January 6, 2023 Teacher of the Game!
Hiawatha High School is proud to recognize two teachers tonight as our Red Hawk Teachers of the Game.
Mr. Josh May teaches vocal music at HHS. A student said, “He’s taken a lot of time out of his day to help us read music and bring confidence when we sing. He shows us that he loves what he does and that he wants the best from us. That makes me work harder than ever. He lets us talk about a lot of things. He’s a great teacher!”
Two students nominated Miss Libby Dunn. One student said, “I believe Ms. Dunn should be recognized. She is overall a very fun teacher. She is kind, caring, and funny. Ms. Dunn is a very comforting person and everyone enjoys being around her.” Another student said, “Ms. Dunn deserves to be recognized because she always has a positive attitude and is very helpful.”

6th grade boys youth basketball for the girls game halftime entertainment. Hiawatha Youth Basketball League kicks off tomorrow. Good luck to all teams competing!

Mrs. Kylee Reschke teaches English. The student who nominated her said, “She's a great teacher because she pushes us as individuals to produce our best work and teaches us valuable life lessons. Not only is she a great teacher, but she's also a great support system. This year I have gotten closer to her because of her trustable personality. She's great at giving advice and has steered me in the right direction countless times. A big thanks to Mrs. Reschke!”
Mr. Matt Leahy teaches art. He was nominated by two different students. One student said, “Mr. Leahy deserves to be recognized because I and other students feel safe in his classroom.” Another student said, “He's shown me that he cares about us students and makes us feel comfortable, he helps me a lot to see the right in wrong in situations that made me upset, and he lets you talk about it, he's a great teacher!”

Urgent Need for Bus Drivers! We currently need a couple of route drivers. We could use a regular driver for a morning and afternoon route (3 1/2 to 4 hours per day) or a morning only driver (2 hours per day). Starting pay is $20 per hour and a class B or A CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements is required. All expenses to acquire the proper license will be covered by USD 415 and all training will be paid training and provided to you. 7th & 8th Grade Students in Mr. Hampl's Current Events class participated in the Kansas Stock Market Game competition for the Fall Semester. Our group finished in 3rd place in the Middle School Rankings. The students were given Certificates of Recognition for program participation. Third place went to Ali Krauter & Maliyah Stokes. Second place went to Nathan Kuehn. First place went to Mo Schaber, Wesley Bray-Wright, and Komoah Stokes. Congratulations to all the participants! #HMSRedHawks
