Something new for this school year.
This year at enrollment (online or in person), you will have the option of choosing if you would like for your child to receive Over-The-Counter (OTC) medications provided by the school. The form included will show you what medications we will provide and will provide more specific details on when we would administer OTC meds. This is the form we will require to be filled out on each student at the start of the school year. No OTC medication will be given to any student who is ill (as per our guidelines in our school health handbook) and needs to go home in order to keep them at school. Our intention is to help students feel more comfortable to be able to continue their day at school if they have a headache/stomach ache/cough/itching etc. By providing the OTC medications, our goal is to decrease the amount of OTC medications parents are having to bring to the school themselves (as space for these OTC meds is minimal) and decrease the amount of OTC medications students in upper grades are carrying on their person.
Parents will be required to fill out the OTC form if you choose “yes” to the question on enrollment. The form will have to be downloaded, printed and filled out, signed and then brought to your child’s school to be given to the nurse. You will also be able to fill out the form in person at the school or in person enrollment on Aug 1st. If you choose “No” on the form in person or on enrollment, no school OTC meds will be given to your child. If you choose “Yes” on enrollment or in person, the signed form MUST be filled out and returned to us or we will not provide any school OTC medication.
