Congratulations to Nirvana Peterson! She was recently selected for the KMEA All-State Choir. The KMEA All-State Choir performs each year at the annual In-Service Workshop in Wichita. Students are selected via a rigorous audition process that starts at the district level. Students with the top audition scores who perform at the district level are then eligible for selection to the All-State Choirs. Thus, the All-State student musicians are truly “the best of the best.”

HES students and staff celebrated December’s Hawk Block success with ReinDEAR time. Students earn Hawk Blocks when they show times of being safe, responsible or respectful in our school. So far this year HES has had 80 classes earn 36 Hawk Blocks. When a class earns 36 Hawk Blocks a small celebration is held for their hard work. Each month the school has a bigger celebration for the student’s positive behavior. This month the students earned ReinDEAR time, students were each given a book and candy cane. The students and staff spent time reading the books and enjoying the candy canes at the end of the day on Friday, December 17th. HES was also surprised with a generous donation from our HES PAT group during our ReinDEAR time. They donated a book to every student in our school today as well. All HES students received two books today! #HESRedHawks
