Created a trust to benefit graduates of U.S.D. #415, who plan to study in the fields of education, health care, or a vocational trade. Paul and Daisy lived very conservatively and left their entire estate to the Hiawatha Community.

Intended to reward a history of community involvement for a deserving senior, with plans to pursue any form of post-secondary education or training, with consideration to participation in extracurricular activities, community clubs or other active groups that benefit the community, as well as individual experience serving the community, along with overall personal academic success.

Recipients of this award shall demonstrate high moral character and integrity, self-discipline and self-motivation and demonstrate desire and promise with average academic ability. Recipients must be graduates of USD 430 South Brown County or USD 415 Hiawatha. Students living in Powhattan City & within the original Powhattan School District have priority.

Carli Mueller, Elizabeth Hinton, Karin Moorhous & Kiara Stone, Middlebrook Scholarship recipients!
Created by H.O. and Helen Middlebrook in memory of their son, James Holmes Middlebrook, who died in infancy. Distributions began in 1945, the year James would have entered college. The Middlebrooks themselves were administrators until 1962, when H.O. Middlebrook passed away. His will stated that the scholarship be preserved in a permanent trust, with Citizen’s State Bank & Trust Company as successor administrator. The one-year scholarship was designed to help college students through their critical freshman year.




Dalton Simmer, Dale Strahan Scholarship recipient!
Dale Strahan was a lifelong resident of Brown County. He was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of both the Hiawatha Country Club and Horton Country Club. This scholarship is awarded to individuals seeking a career in golf management or who have participated in high school golf.

A local company that was founded in 2005 by father and son, both Hiawatha High School graduates. This scholarship was established to give back to the community that supports them. Their goal is to continue to provide locally talented employees with respect and admiration to prosper in their professional and personal lives. They value education, hard work, and dedication. Most of their employees are in the Hiawatha School District.





Allison Arment & Joel Bryan, Agriculture Future of America Scholarship recipients.
The AFA Scholarship was first awarded in the Hiawatha area in 2001. The purpose of A.F.A. is to serve as a catalyst in the preparation of a new generation of agriculture leaders. It seeks out the most talented young people dedicated to becoming leaders in the field of agriculture. This scholarship is made possible by individuals and companies in our area who believe in the goals of A.F.A. and is awarded to seniors who are seeking a 4-year degree in the field related to agriculture.

Chris Vitt was a biology teacher at Hiawatha High School from 1984-2020. The Chris Vitt Memorial Scholarship is a one time $1000 to give back to his last high school biology class before becoming ill with cancer.

Northeast Kansas Multi-County Home Health & Hospice offers nursing scholarships to local seniors with special consideration given to the applicants expressing a desire to return to local communities once they have achieved their nursing degrees.

The F.H.S. Alumni Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 by the Fairview Rural High School Alumni Association for the purpose of granting scholarships to those high school graduates or adults with high school equivalency, who now reside within the boundaries of the former District #5 (1966) and who meet the criteria established by the Board. Recipients may receive monies for academic, professional, technical, or trade school educational purposes.

STATE TRACK SEND-OFF!!!
This year's state-bound competitors will be leaving from Hiawatha high school at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 26. It would be great to send them off in style with cheers and good luck wishes from friends, family and community members! We will leave the parking lot and head down Oregon Street until we hit highway 36!

USD 415 is in need of route bus drivers for the fall. A Class "B" or "A" CDL with the school bus and passenger endorsements is required and we will supply the study guide and paid training will be provided at no cost to you.

Clara Lindstrom, Kansas State High School Activities Association True Blue Scholarship recipient!
The Kansas State High School Activities Association partnering with Capitol Federal Foundation honored 34 students in the state of Kansas with a $2,000 scholarship made payable to a two-year or four-year accredited college, university or technical school in the name of the selected student.
In this initial year, 590 applications were received across the 34 different scholarships. Recipients were selected based on community service, academic achievement, activity achievement, breadth of school activity participation and financial need. Applications were reviewed by a panel of educators and stakeholders who support the mission of the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
