Work Based Learning Spotlight: Amarya Edie
My health care work experience takes place at Amberwell hospital primary care office on B days. The picture taken was a picture of me taking vitals. Vitals of every person who visits the clinic are taken and recorded no matter what the reason for coming into the clinic is. Either the nurse takes the vitals or I do then we type them into the person's chart on the computer. We do this so that we know where the person's vitals are on the scale so if they come in for a more serious reason then we will know if their vitals change. Another reason is if their vitals are not normal we can check and see if there is a serious problem. This WBL is something that is giving me experience I need and getting in extra practice with vitals and other smaller nursing skills. This experience has taught me that I don't want to go into this particular branch of nursing but it still teaches me valuable lessons having to do with a real workplace in a hospital and how each person plays an important role. This is a helpful class preparing me for college classes by giving me a bit more freedom and choices. Working with older people helps social skills and talking to patients also helps develop different social skills working with different types of people.

Route Drivers, Activity Drivers and Subs Needed:

We need sports and field trip drivers. If you are going to the games anyway then you could get paid to go, get into the games free (home games too) and get paid while you are there.

We also need substitute drivers for our bus routes.

A Class B or A CDL with School Bus & Passenger endorsements is required. All training is provided and paid for by USD 415.

Starting pay is $20/hour for drive time and $10/hour for layover/sit time.
