COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (4580/4581) - semester - 1/2 unit.  Open to sophomores to seniors with juniors and seniors having first priority.  (Maximum enrollment in one class is 15) This course, along with Multimedia Technology I, meets the needed Computer Technology requirement for the Regent’s Recommended Curriculum and the State of Kansas Scholarship Program.  Computer applications is designed to introduce the students to database and spreadsheet concepts and applications.  An integrated software package (Office 2007) will be used to allow the student to combine documents and information.   (Prerequisite:  Word Processing I)  (NOTE:  This course is designed in part to prepare students for admission to a university.)

DESKTOP PUBLISHING (4525) - semester - 1/2 unit.  Open to sophomores - seniors.  Students will use a page-design program where they will combine graphics and text to create professional-looking documents.  They will use Microsoft Publisher and Adobe PageMaker to create professional newsletters, reports, flyers, announcements, invitations, or presentation materials.  This class will occasionally develop documents for community businesses or organizations.  (Prerequisite:   Word Processing I)

GRAPHIC APPLICATIONS (4545) - semester - 1/2 unit.  Open to sophomores - seniors.  Students will learn design basics and production skills using the program Adobe Photoshop.  Students will visually step through the process of creating images, manipulating them and then optimizing them for print or the web.  This course will prepare students to apply their skills in a variety of graphic design settings using real-world scenarios.  (Pre-requisite:  Work Processing I)

MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGY I (4530) - semester - 1/2 unit.  Open to sophomores - seniors.  This course, along with Computer Applications, meets the needed Computer Technology requirements for the Regent’s Recommended Curriculum and the State of Kansas Scholarship Program.  Students will utilize powerful multimedia technology to develop presentations that use sight and sound to stimulate and to involve, to inform and to educate.  This class could help develop presentations by other students and teachers that could integrate technology into all other areas of curriculum.  Students would become active participants in the investigative learning process, work cooperatively and engage in the process of developing higher level analytical thinking and communication skills.  (Prerequisite:  Word Processing I)  (NOTE:  This course is designed in part to prepare students for admission to a university.)

MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGY II (4535) - semester - 1/2 unit.  Open to sophomores - seniors.  Students will continue with the same concepts taught in Multimedia Technology I.  They will also be responsible for developing weekly program content to broadcast over Channel 1 (Prerequisites: Multi-Tech I & Teacher approval)

VISUAL BASIC PROGRAMMING (4540) - semester - 1/2 unit.  Open to juniors and seniors.  This course will be an introduction to the Visual Basic programming language and environment.  Visual Basic is one of a new generation of programming languages that enables you to create state-of-the-art multimedia software applications for Microsoft Windows using a point and click Graphical User Interface (GUI) as well as traditional programming commands.  Essential functionality of Visual Basic will be presented using hands-on real-world exercises.  (Prerequisite:  Word Processing I)

WEBPAGE DESIGN (4575) - semester - 1/2 unit.  Open to sophomores - seniors.  Students will learn the basic skills and practical steps to plan, organize, and design a web site from start to finish.  They will be using different applications, starting with HMTL and focusing on Microsoft FrontPage 2003.  (Pre-requisite:  Word Processing I)
