Chromakey Green Screen in Digital Video Editing Class
Channel 3 WHMS is on closed circuit TV.
Fred Weaver Applied Technology Teacher
One of the projects that students in my digital video editing class are responsible for is reading the the morning announcements that air each school day at 8:15 am. The announcements last about 1-2 minutes and include the Pledge of Allegiance, birthdays, lunch, tomorrow’s breakfast, and general information for the students.
In groups of two or three, they prepare a PowerPoint slide show that will be shown in the background while they read the slide information on a small monitor. The green screen (Chromakey) can display a variety of video and typically this technique is used with weather reports on local TV stations. The students sit in front of a green or blue colored fabric, and look into the camera.
The announcements are recorded on a DVD the day before airing so up to the minute information is placed on a PowerPoint slide show that repeats and plays all day and teachers can view them on the televisions in their rooms on Closed Circuit Channel 3.
The teachers can turn the TV on anytime during first period to play the recorded announcements. It repeats all period.
View the pictures to see some of the students in action, and a few daily PowerPoint slides.
