| 08/20/2010 | Sorry Katey and Annaliese. I messed up on how I was supposed to do the feedback on the page. There should be an answer after each on your messages. I'll answer all your questions here. Annaliese, I'm glad you asked about cursive. We will actually be starting cursive next week. I plan to have the class practice the strokes and learn the lower case letters i, t, and u. You will love learning to write in cursive! See you next week. Katey, I do love reading. My biggest problem is that I don't have enough time to read as much as I would like. I also get really caught up in what I'm reading and usually have a hard time putting it down. My kids get mad at me for not paying attention to them. I do know your cousins. I had both of them in my class. You are so lucky to have such wonderful cousins. I loved having them. |

| 08/22/2010 | I hate not being at school this weekend! I didn`t know 3rd grade is so much fun!I wish 3rd grade never ends! Breana was smiling when I said Mrs.T. loved having you! Because she never smiles! Did I forget to tell you that I eat pizza every friday night at Pizza Hut. Can you believe that Breana is14 and she got braces and has her learn`s permit! I can`t wait till monday when we do cursive! I wonder if it`s going rain like friday? I bet it`s going to be a good day with the best teacher in the whole world! Does Emma know Kylie? | 08/23/2010 | I'm so glad you asked that question. I realized I didn't explain it at BTS night. Those are the 110 words we will be working on through the course of the year. We pick 7 to work on for 2 weeks. The students will do different activities with the words and learn about their origins and tricks to spell them. We will work on concepts like prefixes, suffixes, plurals, compound words, contractions, etc. We will be checking on the student's progress with these words but NOT in the form of a traditional spelling test. We have writing projects that will help us to assess this. Thanks for asking! I look forward to blogging with you this year. |

| 08/31/2010 | That is an excellent question. We do several projects and take several learning trips this year. My two favorite trips are to the prairie behind the high school. The other is our longer trip where we go study the wildlife at Squaw Creek Wildlife Refuge by Mound City, MO. Some of our projects include making a bird, creating a poster with things we collect from the praire, an ABC book and so much more. I'm so glad you think I'm a nice teacher. I think you are a wonderful student too! |
