The Word for the Month: Respect.
Poster for the day: B responsible 4 U
Quote for the day by Anne Frank: Parents can only give good advice or put (their children) on the right path, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.
Money for school pictures is due TODAY, September 26. Picture retakes are Friday, October 9.
2nd Grade Field Trip on TODAY, September 26, 12:45-2:30. Students need to bring an empty sack and gloves to collect corn from the Brad Swearingen farm.
Parent/Teachers Conferences are next Monday, September 29. NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS. Please contact your child’s teacher to confirm conference times, if you have not already done so. We will have a babysitter available in the gym for students grade 4 and under.
Reminder to Parents: Please help us! The office needs to know NO LATER than 2 p.m. if your child is going home any other way than “normal.” A note from you, sent with your child, is very helpful, and would save confusion at the end of the day.
Reminder: Milk cards are $7 a month this year.
Another reminder to Parents: Please remember to call the Elementary School office each morning if your child will be absent from school. We want to make sure that all students arrive safely to their classroom. Telephone number: 742-7181. Thank you for your help.
September 25, 2:30-7 p.m. Hiawatha Community Blood Drive, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 613 South First Ave., Hiawatha. Parents should consider donating blood for this worthwhile cause.
Deadline September 30. Put your artistic talents to good use and enter the Kansas Don’t Spoil It! Calendar Contest. Create a drawing or painting about composting, recycling, resource conservation, proper waste disposal, “green” practices or other activities that will help keep our state beautiful.
Submit all artwork on 8.5 x 11” unlined white paper. Markers, watercolors, tempera, oils, crayon, chalk, acrylic or colored pencils are all acceptable. Please do not use pen & ink. Entry forms may be picked up the elementary school office. Entries should be mailed to KDHE-BWM, 1000 SW Jackson, Suite 320, Topeka, KS 66612-1366 NO LATER than September 30.
We will again be collecting General Mills “Box Tops for Education.” Students should collect box tops, bring them to their teacher, who will turn them in to the office. Notes have been sent home with all students or contact the HES office if you have questions.
