Pi - the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.

Pi – approximately equal to 3.14 (3.14159265….). (March 14 or 3/14)

As one of the 7th grade State Math Standards our 7th graders have to know and apply the formulas of area and circumference of circles. We put this practice to use once again by celebrating Pi Day as close to March 14th as possible since it fell on a Saturday this year.

Each student brought in a circular edible food to measure. They then found the area and circumference after measuring the diameter of their object. Once their problem solving was complete they shared and enjoyed all their delicious treats!
