4th Grade Spelling Bee

On February 4, 2009, 17 fourth grade students participated in the spelling bee at Hiawatha Elementary.
The participants were chosen by their scores on a test given in their classroom. The test consisted of 20 Word Wall words which is part of the Four Block curriculum at HES. The top spellers from each room were able to participate in the Spelling Bee.
For the spelling bee, each student was given a word to spell. If the word was spelled correctly they were able to stay in. However, if the word was spelled incorrectly, the students were eliminated from the spelling bee. Each student gave their best effort and we are very proud of all of them. The top three winners were Katie L. - 3rd place, Jada Rosa - 2nd place, and Sadie Miller - 1st place.
