Attention Students:  Beginning today and for the rest of the school year, you will NOT be able to eat if you have any negative balance on your lunch account.  You may check your balance online or by contacting the office.

 

Attention Students:  All underclassmen who do not need to take finals Tuesday and Wednesday MUST return to school on Thursday.

 

Students with missing classes should sign up on Mrs. Haug’s door.

 

Attention all students: The agriculture program has partnered with Highland Community College to offer graduates a pretty sweet deal! Any student that completes three credits of agriculture with a C or better including: Agriscience (Intro), Animal Science, Horticulture, Wildlife Management and Ag Business will receive a Full TUITION scholarship for two years in agriculture. Any student completing four or more with a C or better will receive a FULL TUITION AND BOOKS scholarship.

 

Driver’s Education $100 must be paid by May 21st

 

"Free" Prom DVD's are available in the office for all Juniors and Seniors


There will be a meeting for all students planning on going to
New York next May on Tuesday May 20 at 5:30 in the vocal music room.  Please bring your parents also.

 

Final Transcript Request:  There is a list in the office for Seniors to indicate where to send your final transcript.  Please sign up ASAP.

 

Forensics Team:  We will have our end-of-the-season celebration during seminar on Thursday in Coach Davis' room.  State certificates will be presented, and you will be able to take your files with you.  Please bring a snack to share, Drinks will be provided.  If you have any scripts or binders, please bring them to the party.


The 2008-09 yearbook staff will have a short meeting in Mrs. Reschke's room on Friday, May 16 during seminar, following SSR.

 

If you signed up for a pen pal earlier in the year, please stop by Mrs. Searight's room to pick up a new pen pal address.

 

All track athletes not going to regionals need to check in their uniform and sweats by THURSDAY.

Students taking a HighlandCollegeclass next year will need to take the Assett Test.  We will offer the test one time on Thursday, May 15th at 1:00pm.  Mrs. Haug has sent Seminar teachers a list of possible candidates.  Students who need the test and do not take it will need to make an appointment in Sabetha.

All library materials are due this Friday, May 16th.

FFA members and anyone who might want to join next year - stop by the French room during seminar and pick up a summer activities schedule and sign up for our Pool Party and BBQ on June 27th.

Congratulations to the Hiawatha FFA who will be ranked as one of the top 10 chapters in the state (out of 166) at State Convention in a few weeks!  We were one of only 10 chapters in the state to receive a gold placing in all three areas: community, chapter and student.

ALL JUNIORS: If you are interested in running for a class officer position for next year please stop by the office by Friday to sign up with Amanda. Elections will be Monday. All juniors may come by the office Monday anytime during the day to vote with Amanda. Thank you!!!

Anybody working at the HiawathaAquaticPark this summer (lifeguards and concessions) needs to be at the pool this Saturday at 9:00.

Sophomore Class Officers:Congratulations to the newly elected Sophomore Class Officers for the 2008-09 school year!  President:  Nathaniel Abeita, Vice President:  Katee Hinkle, Secretary:  Marie Schmitz, Treasurer: Maddie Lindstrom, STUCO Rep:  Bubba Farrar.

All members of the Red Hawk Readers are invited to join us for the final activity of the year immediately after school on Friday.  We are going to watch the movie Miss Potter, a recent movie based on the life of the author Beatrix Potter featuring Renee Zellweger as Miss Potter.  Bring $5 for pizza and a drink.  Have a fabulous summer of reading!  Mrs. Dunn also has a copy of the movie based on The Good Earth if any member wishes to borrow it for the weekend. 

 

Girls who participate in fall and winter sports are now eligible to try out for the cheerleading squad.  Please sign the list in the office by Monday, May 19th.  There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday morning, May 27th at 9:00 a.m. in the high school commons.  At this meeting, we will go over tryout dates and practices.  If you are unable to attend this meeting but interested in trying out, please contact Mrs. Lindstrom at 742-2388 or Mrs. Tollefson at the middle school.

 

Biology Club members:  We recycle this Saturday from 9-11 a.m.  Please sign the list in Mr. Vitt's room to help.

Congratulations to the Environmental Team for earning a 3rd place State Medal yesterday in the current issue category.  Team members include:  Brian Butrick, Hannah Roland, Becky Barnes, Grant Stoner, Megan Tryon, and Ryan Vitt.  The team also placed 4th in the aquatics category.  Great job!
