5th and 6th Grade Field Day

by Sara Campbell

May 08, 2008

On Wednesday, May 21, 5th and 6th grade students will participate in the 19th annual Fun Day.  In 1990, a new Fun Day was developed for 5th and 6th graders to replace a track meet.  The goal of the Fun Day/Field Day is to keep kids actively involved in a low competitive game situation.  Kids are able to participate in all events verses 3 events in the normal track meet situation.  Students will rotate to 11 different stations during the afternoon.  Stations are led by 7th and 8th grade advanced PE students and various teachers.  5th and 6th grade students will spend about 10 minutes and each station with a 1 minute break to get to the next station.  Stations will include: Shoe kick, Big ball launch, Bat race, Water balloon launch, sack races, obstacle course, sponge and bucket relay, tug of war, Orange drop relay, Water balloon toss and a frozen juice bar break station.
