Members of Mrs. Boggs' General Business class taste test cookies. Should price or taste determine which a wise consumer should buy?

General Business Conducts Challenge

The Pepsi/Coke Challenge

by Carol Boggs

April 28, 2008

Remember when Pepsi challenged Coke in a taste test?  Mrs. Boggs’ General Business students completed a similar project in class April 25.  Students had the opportunity to taste three brands of vanilla sandwich cookies, four brands of potato chips, and three brands of colas.  In addition, they tested three brands of tissues for softness and smell.  Students were then asked to figure unit pricing for each of the four test groups.

Which tissues would be the best bargain?

As has happened in past General Business classes, each class found different favorites.  Which is most important:  cost or quality?  Opinions differ, but all the students agreed that it was an interesting experiment, and an interesting way to complete practical math problems.

General Business students also taste tested potato chips.
