State Testing

Students at Hiawatha High School will soon be taking state assessments. It is very important for all sophomores and juniors to be in school when these are given. If students miss days the assessments are given, they will have to find another time to make these up. Please check the following schedule to see if your child will be testing, if nothing else, just ask them, they will be able to tell you.
It is very important for students to eat a healthy breakfast these days and get a good night's rest.
The schedule is as follows:
February 20 through February 27 - State Math Assessment (all sophomores and a few juniors).
February 29 through March 7 - State Reading Assessment (all juniors).
March 31 through April 7 - State Reading Assessment (all sophomores).
April 8 through April 11 - State Science Assessment (all juniors).
April 21 through April 25 - State Social Studies Assessment (all juniors).
This year will be the first in a few years that students will be taking the science and social studies test - these tests are not given every year.
Students at HHS have done pretty well on these tests the past few years. Last year, students made the Standard of Excellence in both reading and math.
We hope to have everyone here when we test and we also want to encourage all students to do their best on these tests.
If you have any questions or if you know your child will be gone of of the scheduled dates, please contact your child's teacher.
