Biology Club Continues Recycling Effort

by Chris Vitt

September 13, 2006

Hiawatha High School Biology Club recycles every third Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the west edge of the high school parking lot. Item accepted include number one and number two plastics. Please rinse plastics and sort by number. These numbers can be located in the triangle on the bottom of the plastic containers. Please separate milk jugs from other number two items. For glass items, please rinse and separate by color such as clear, brown and green/blue. We will also take newspapers, magazines and cardboard. If you can break down the cardboard boxes, that would be greatly appreciated. We also accept tin cans with both ends and labels removed and cans smashed. In addition, we accept aluminum cans, which are the only items the club receives money for. Monetary donations would be gratefully accepted. The Biology Club greatly appreciates the support of the community in its recycling endeavor. If there is inclement weather and there are no club members or sponsors at the trailer, please do not leave your items.

Freshman Caleb Lenon, sophomores Brittany Lambert and Tiffany Lammon, Elliot, Guy, and junior Mollie Grove pull pop tabs off aluminum cans to benefit the Ronald McDonald houses.
