IRC Teacher

Dawn Stephens has taught in the area of special education for the last 20 years. She received her bachelors degree from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska. Dawn started teaching in 1984 within the Hiawatha/Horton School Districts working with students who were severely multiply disabled and mentally handicapped. Over the last 10 years Dawn has been a part of a team of teachers from the State of Kansas who work with school districts by providing in-services or consulting on a student by student case. The group is called the Inclusive Network of Kansas. Currently she is teaching as an IRC teacher at Hiawatha High School. Dawn is married to Ken Stephens (Beef) of Hiawatha and has two children, Derek a junior and Allie an 8th grader. She hopes to complete her Masters Degree in Education from Baker University in December of 2006..Outside of her teaching day she enjoys attending her children's activities, knitting, and reading.
