This fall, Cindy Bicker will begin her second year as the HMS art teacher. Prior to last year, she "got her feet wet" as the long term art substitute at HMS. Additionally, she spent over five years substituting for the art teachers at all three buildings. She was the owner of The Art Room in Hiawatha from 2003-2007. She appreciates her (long awaited) opportunity to teach full time in a "real" art room and enjoys working with middle school students.
Cindy graduated from Crete High School in Crete, Nebraska and received her degree in art education from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. Her public school teaching experience includes seven years as an elementary "art cart" teacher for the Auburn-Washburn Schools in Topeka, Kansas and two years at Martin Elementary in Andover, Kansas. She considers herself fortunate to have student taught in Chicago, Illinois through the Chicago Center. Cindy has taught students of all ages in many educational settings. She comes from a family of educators and artists, and art has always been an integral part of her life.
