This year the Hiawatha Marching band will be traveling to Chicago for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. The band will be playing “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi and “Stand Up and Cheer” the school’s fight song. This parade is nationally known as the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade. It is almost as big as the Rose Bowl parade. In addition to playing in the parade the band will see the Blue Man group, the Oceanarium, go the Navy Pier, and attend an interactive comedy performance at Comedy Sportz.
Saxophone player, Rylie O’Quinn is anxious for the trip. “My favorite part of the trip will be going to the Museum of Science and Industry” she said.
Classmate Emily Bauer, a flutist said “My favorite part will be leaving Hiawatha and experiencing so many things in Chicago”.
Band director Mr. Johnson said “My favorite part of the trip will just be when that time comes to step off for the parade because he knows there is no going back”. He also said “That I’m excited for many things like the Blue Man Group, the Skydeck, and the dyeing of the Chicago River.”
