KSU is currently accepting
applications for the Civic Leadership Scholarship. The
University indicates it is working hard “pairing exceptional
students with great programs”.
The objective for the K-State Civic Leadership Scholarship competition is to identify and reward exceptional high school seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to serving others in their community, school, or place of worship.
This competition rewards students who are making a difference and demonstrating creativity by developing projects and programs with a lasting impact on those they serve. The direct excerpt from K-State’s web site follows, along with links:
To qualify applicants must:
- Have an exemplary record of community service
- Be a high school senior
- Be admitted to K-State
- Attend K-State in fall 2010
Benefits
First place
- $4,000 scholarship to attend K-State freshman year
- Opportunity to participate in civic leadership activities and Introduction to Leadership Concepts class
Second place
- $2,500 scholarship to attend K-State freshman year
- Opportunity to participate in civic leadership activities and Introduction to Leadership Concepts class
Third place
- $2,000 scholarship to attend K-State freshman year
- Opportunity to participate in civic leadership activities and Introduction to Leadership Concepts class
Scholarship recipients may renew the scholarship with a 3.33 cumulative K-State GPA for up to three additional years as a Wicks Civic Leadership Scholar.

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010 by submitting their application packet to Kiley Moody, Asst. Coord. Of New Student Services, , KSU New Student Services, 09 Anderson Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506-0119 or fax it to 785-532-3696.
- Complete the K-State scholarship application
- Complete the K-State Civic Leadership Scholarship supplemental application
Finalists will be selected by a committee of campus and community leaders.
Finalists are required to participate in an on-campus interview and recognition day on Thursday, January 20, 2011. Parents and family members are encouraged to attend.
Scholarship winners will be notified by Friday, January 21, 2011.
