World Cultural History at HHS is a fun class to be in because students learn about past civilizations and how they started and ended. In addition, they talk about some important inventions that may have been created to help people back then and possibly contributed to some technology of the present day.
“It is fun in World Cultural History because Mr. Mitchell is sarcastic.”, Chance Johansen said.
Right now the students are learning how the Europeans and Spaniards made trade routes around the south tip of Africa. They defeated the Italians and Muslims and established a direct trade route with their people so they could buy the same things they were buying from the Muslims and Italians for a lot less than they were buying them for. The students are also learning how the inventions of that time also help them make it to Asia. Christopher Columbus thought if they were to go west that they would reach east India but instead he landed on an island in the Caribbean and thought that the people that were there were Indians and that that’s how the Indians got their name.
Ben Brown said “It is an interesting class.”
Another activity that students are doing is to learn how the Europeans and Spaniards reacted to each other and other problems when they were trying to find a trade route to Asia. The students are watching a movie that showed how the French and the Europeans coexisted with each other and other problems when they were trying to find a trade route to Asia.
