General Chorus

Anyone can listen to music. It takes more skill and effort to sing. Singing is a talent that people never fail to undermine. Many people think general chorus is an easy class to pass, but there is more to it than just randomly yelling out words that are horribly off-key.
In General Chorus, the first thing students do is get into their sections. Soprano is for girls who sing the highest part. Alto is for girls who sing lower than sopranos. All of the boys are put in to one section. The next thing students do is warm up. This involves singing several notes in different octaves. In first semester General Chorus, students learn to read music. Currently in General Chorus students are singing a single 71 page, four part Disney medley.
Lorenzo Mendez calls the song “ridiculously long”, but in reality it is just as long as singing five or six other songs, which is what the Chorus class usually does.
Ben Brown disagrees with Lorenzo, “It’s not as long as you think it is at first.” Although it’s nothing unusual Student News has taken an interest in it.
So that’s General Chorus in a nutshell. Although it is a much under appreciated class, students agree that it is worth taking. If you’re interested in listening to General Choir, the next concert is on March 8.
