HHS Agriculture - Semester 1

by Mandy Kern

January 25, 2010

A high school agriculture program is built around 3 equal components, each as important as the next.  Students enrolled in an agriculture class are only receiving 1/3 of this total program.  In order to to benefit the most students should also become active FFA members and develop an SAE.  An SAE, or Supervised Agriculture Experience, is an individual project that delves deeper into an agriculture topic or career of interest to the student.  Students can either work for a business or start their own.

This first semester has allowed several great opportunities for our agriculture students.  Gallery one showcases FFA involvement, including our trip to National Convention.  Gallery two takes a look at just a few of the many hands-on activities students participate in during classroom instruction and labs and Gallery three provides an insight to a few of our outstanding student SAE projects.  Look for even greater work in 2010!
