A couple of Mrs. Hrencher’s 7th
grade math classes were fortunate to have two senior calculus
students come in and try their hand at teaching. Every year Mr.
Kleiwer, HHS math teacher, assigns a teaching project to his
calculus students. The students then set up a time and work on a
specific topic geared towards a math indicator from the state.
Calculus Students
Kenny Williams and Zach Hrencher presented perimeter of irregular shapes to Mrs. Hrencher’s 5th and 7th hours. Both of these student teachers did an excellent job engaging the students as they taught them. They reviewed with them about finding perimeter and what it means. They then took the students around the school to measure different perimeters.
Irregularly shaped chocolate covered cookies were carefully measured to the nearest centimeter before being devoured. The students were finally able to enjoy their cookies as they worked on practice activities Kenny and Zach created for them.
