Kansas City Assoc. Equipment Distributors Scholarships (Diesel Mech or Heavy Equipment Repair prospective students)

Awards: Four $1,000 scholarships
Deadline: March 15, 2010
A.E.D. will award up to 4 annual scholarships of $1,000 each ($500 per semester) for up to four full-time students. Men and women attending a vo-tech school and pursuing a certificate or associates degree in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Repair are eligible to apply.
Recipients will be chosen based on their interest in entering one of these fields upon completion of their certificate or associates degree. Selection is based on their general aptitude and personal traits that are conducive to success in these fields of study. Once a winner has finished the first year of school, they may reapply for the scholarship their second year, but must meet all qualifications.
Applicants MUST: be a full time student, be enrolled for the fall semester for the year of the award, pursue an associate of applied science degree in either of the two above-mentioned fields, and be in good academic standing (minimum 2.5 high school cumulative GPA) or a GED minimum score of 260.
Evaluation will be by: 30% essay, 25% short answer responses, 15% attendance, 15% high school GPA, and 15% involvement and activities.
