Highland Community College and Northeast Kansas Technical Center have recently merged. Here are some quick points regarding this merger:
- HCC now offers 13 technical programs through the Technical Center in Atchison
- AAS degrees for each of the programs are easily accessible through HCC both on the main campus and at the Atchison campus
- Traditional-aged students that want to enjoy campus life may attend the Tech Center in Atchison and live on the main Highland campus
- Students wanting to participate in HCC’s athletic programs, yet pursue a technical degree, are now able to do so
- Transportation to and from Atchison to the main Highland campus is available for a nominal charge
- Students living on campus are eligible for books/tuition scholarships for general ed classes and $500 toward the cost of technical ed classes per semester. Full time tech students living on campus are eligible for $1,000 toward books/tuition at the Tech Center
- Those choosing to attend HCC for 2 years before going to a 4-yr college can save over $14,000, not including taking advantage of financial aid and scholarship opportunities (all this information received from/calculated by HCC)
