Brown is the Favorite Hair Color at HHS

Groups at Hiawatha High School did a survey for Computer Applications class in order to complete their study of databases. They came up with a topic that they were going to poll people about and then went and surveyed the student body. For the actual poll they had to meet certain requirements, ask unique questions, and see which of their answers were most popular.
The group of Cody Weis, Tim Coots, and Kyle Guy decided to ask the students about what traits students are attracted to in other people. They had to have students name, first and last, gender, and grade. For the actual poll they used the questions of preferred height, hair color, eye color, and clothing style. The poll turned out very well because 116 people were polled which was 46% of the student body.
For the questions asked they wondered what color of hair do guys at HHS find most attractive, what height did males prefer, and what type of clothing style are girls more attracted to? The study found out that 52 guys at HHS were attracted to girls with brown hair, 17 males prefer average height in girls, and that girls are attracted to casual clothing style. Three questions relating this database to another one in the class were also asked: what hair color are those people who have Michel Jordan as their favorite overall a athlete attracted to? What color of eyes and clothing style are most preferred? For guys who are attracted to brown hair color what was their favorite genre? The study showed that people who had MJ as their favorite overall athlete are attracted to people with brown hair, the favorite attractive eye and clothing color was blue, and that males who preferred brown hair liked comedies the best.
Overall Tim Coots, Cody Weis, and Kyle Guy surveyed twenty-five seniors, forty-one juniors, twenty-one sophomores, and twenty-nine freshmen. The most popular answers were thirty-seven people who preferred brown hair, fourteen who preferred average height, twenty-five who liked blue eye color, and sixteen who didn't have preference about what clothing style was worn. From this survey students learned a lot about what people liked and preferred and had a fun time surveying the students.
The students who tied for first, surveying the most students got a free pizza hut gift card and that made the competition more worth while. In the future, hopefully students in Computer Applications class will get the chance to do surveys again and will be motivated by a chance to win the prize.
