Lunch Program Regulations

THE MAXIMUM CHARGE PER STUDENT IS $15.00. Students may charge no more than $15 worth of meals to their lunch account. However, no charges will be allowed within the last three weeks of the school year. Charging of a la carte or extra items to this account will never be permitted. Any student failing to keep his/her account solvent as required by the district shall not be allowed to charge further meals until the negative account balance had been paid in full. Students with negative lunch account balances will be allowed to purchase a meal if the student pays for the meal when it is received. Students who have charged the maximum allowance to this account and cannot pay out of pocket for a meal will be provided an alternate meal consisting of peanut butter, peanut butter alternative, or cheese sandwich and milk.

At least one written warning shall be provided to a student and his/her parents or guardian before denying meals for exceeding the district's charge limit. If payment of the negative balance is not received within five working days of the maximum charge limit being attained, the debt will be turned over to the superintendent or superintendent's designee for collection and DCF may be contacted regarding a possible case of neglect in accordance with board policy DP. If the debt is not paid within ten days of mailing the final notice of the negative account balance, it shall be considered bad debt for the purposes of federal law concerning unpaid meal charges.

Payments for school meals may be made at the school or district office.

Students, parents, and guardians of the students are encouraged to prepay meal costs.

1.ALL MONEY IS TO BE PAID AT THE OFFICE. If students pay at the office, a paid receipt is given. This assures them of proper credit. The person running the lunch machine doesn’t have time to take money and keep the lunch line moving.

2.WE USE A KEYPAD SYSTEM AT THE MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL THAT STUDENTS USE TO TYPE IN THEIR CODE.The lunch supervisor monitors the id number to ensure that the student is using the correct number.

3.STUDENTS MAY NOT TRANSFER LUNCH MONEY TO OTHER STUDENTS.Each student may only use their id number to log one breakfast and lunch per day.

A-LA-CARTE ITEMS CANNOT BE CHARGED:A-la-carte items cannot be purchased by those on free or reduced lunches unless the student pays for them in advance in cash.Free/reduced meals are for the regular menu items, not a-la-carte.
